Cécile Picard-Limpens has an expertise in design, development and management of innovative projects at the crossroads of art, science and digital. After graduating as an acoustic engineer, she obtained her PhD in Computer Science (INRIA, Sophia-Antipolis) on Modeling and Sound Synthesis for Virtual Environments, then worked at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Genève (CH) and to Numédiart (Mons, BE) on research projects combining sound synthesis and human-machine interaction. Within the program of research “Sciences et Cultures du Visuel” (SCV, University of Lille), she has been in charge of the management of scientific projects. See her cv for more details.
Freddy Limpens is a freelance worker providing consulting, teaching, and complete realizations in web applications, linked data, e-learning, and digital fabrication. After graduating as a mechanical engineer, he completed a PhD in computer science at Inria (studying social web data and Linked Data principles). Since then, he contributes, as a fullstack developper and consultant, to projects ranging from collaborative web platforms, to e-learning eco-systems and digital fabrication. See his cv for more details.
What we perceive constructs us. We are what we feel, what we see, what we hear. But perception is not a faculty per se, it is printed from what we are.. our observation point is localised by our own body, which, just by filling a volume, might influence the observation itself... so the question loops and never ends. This mere question is endless and simply virtiginuous. We have no aim to answer it, just the desire to explore the complexity of the imbrication. The objectivity of the camera will not overcome the ambiguity of perception. However, we consider the camera as a tool for exploring what we may perceive, a window opened on our subconscience.
Dimensions: Haut. x Prof. X Larg. = 450 x 500 X 480 mm
Zamboni Touch Street is an app on mobile device that propose an interactive way to discover Zamboni Street in Bologna, Italy. This project is in collaboration with the Academy of fine arts in Bologna.
In October 2016 was held the 50th anniversary of the 9 evenings, an emblematic event of October 1966 in New York consisting of a series of 9 performances
combining visual arts, dance, theater, music, and video, led by 10 artists in close collaboration with thirty engineers from Bell Telephone Laboratories.
Taken advantage of this anniversary, we decided to structure an Art / Sciences-Technologies approach in the North of France and in Belgium in order to bring visibility
to the actions undertaken and to bring out other initiatives.
Preparation work for the installation Pixel Sunrise, Meryll Hardt: a prototype for real-time video effects processing.
"The installation enables a single visitor or group to experience a movement back and forth between the fixation and dissolution of their form. Each occurrence in the white cube is interconnected and the movement of one affect on the representation of the other on the screen. On a white background, white cube and white light, the installation questions the binary and essentialist revelation of the image..."
V-Atlas is part of VISUALL-tek, a library of innovative and collaborative apps dedicated to visual studies.
Spatialize, explore, query, recompose: 4 verbs to summarize the path proposed by V-Atlas (Video Analysis TooL Assisted by Slitscan). Whether alone or in a group, each person can identify, classify, categorize iconographic and narrative patterns in a set of still or moving images.
A slitscan process is exploited to cut the corpus and find its way into the temporality of the visual archive which is consulted.
Technology: HTML5 / Operating System: Any web browser / Compatibility: Any system.
Imagination for People - collaborative social platform
3D content visualization and interaction - Mirror Lake Station
Preparation work for the installation Mirror Lake Station, Mathilde Lavenne: a prototype for real-time 3D content visualization and interaction.
Video Installation in collaboration with Collectif
Coin from Grenoble (F) for the "Nuit
Blanche 2009" of the art venue Chateau
Rouge in Annemasse (F).
This installation was an attempt to explore a feeling of distance
between the viewer and its own image in relation to the particular
notion of time we have when confronted with our own image: a mix of
vertigo and fuzziness depicted by the chaotic montage of present and
past captured images of the event.
A video has been produced for the post-rock band Les Lutins Patates de
l'Espace and has been used for their
2009-2010 tour as video material for the track "Set - Part 2" (listen
here).
This video is a kind of anachronistic encounter between the joyfull mix
of electro-post rock of LPE and the DIY avant-garde poetry of Melies and
his "A Trip to the Moon"...
